NatWest Bankline Direct preparation schedule for ISO 20022 messaging

We are dedicated to supporting you on your journey as NatWest Digital Channels adopts the go-forward industry standard (ISO20022 MX format) messaging, creating a common financial transmission language and enabling enhanced data payment processing and improved reconciliation for payments within UK and across the globe.

NatWest Bankline Direct Digital is the default payment and reconciliation solution for customers (both new and those wishing to make a change to their existing service), designed to provide this enhanced payment data and improved reconciliation. To use ISO formats, you will need to be on Bankline Direct Digital. Customers will be encouraged to adopt ISO messaging over a period of time.

Technical documentation and sample messages

To provide the technical details required to impact assess and build ISO compliant messages, we have developed usage guidelines and sample messages which will support you.

These guides are available in the Swift MyStandards portal, which is free to use. You will need to register, if you do not already have access and will need to request access to the NatWest ISO Open Community. To help you through this process, please see the MyStandards Access guide.

To use ISO formats, you will need to be on Bankline Direct Digital. A Migration Manager will be appointed to support you through adoption of this channel. Please contact iso20022.migrationmanagers@natwest.com to begin.

For Financial Institutions

This covers Bank of England CHAPs payment, Payment Status Notifications (PSN) and File Status Notifications (FSN). This guide will translate ISO 20022 Payments & Clearing System (pacs) format against: Message Transmission (MT) and Bankline Comma Separate Value (CSV).

For Corporates

This covers Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA), Bank of England CHAPs payment, Payment Status Notifications (PSN) and File Status Notifications (FSN).

This guide will translate ISO 20022 Payment Initiation (Pain) 00.001.09 formats against: Message Transmission (MT), Bankline Comma Separate Value (CSV), Payment Initiation 00.001.03 (Pain).
