NatWest shines again in CMDportal's annual awards

After a triple win last year, NatWest has again won three accolades at the Collaborative Market Data, CMDportal Awards 2024: “Best ESG SSA Bookrunner/Dealer”, “Best FIG MTN Private Placement Dealer”, and “Best GBP Bookrunner/Dealer”.

Best FIG MTN Private Placement Dealer

The “Best FIG MTN Private Placement Dealer” award is given to an institution that is particularly active and successful in the international and local market for Financial Institutions Groups (FIG).

Marc Falconer, NatWest’s Head of MTN Syndicate, commented: “We’re thrilled to have won this prestigious award, and we thank everyone who voted for us. Our advantage in private placements is founded upon our team’s broad experience and expertise in MTN, Commercial Paper (CP) and Investor Relations and our ability to combine all three to best serve issuers and investors. Our well-connected global MTN team and deep issuer and investor relationships have enabled us to execute FIG MTNs for issuers from Canada, the UK, Europe, and Australia across sizes, currencies, maturities and the capital structure. Furthermore, our ability to match European issuers and Asian investors has also been crucial to our success this year.”

Best GBP Bookrunner/Dealer

Winning the “Best GBP Bookrunner/Dealer” category reflects the strength of our Sterling capabilities. The market also recognised our dedication to support issuers tapping into the Sterling market every single step of the way – from preparing investor presentations to engaging with investors, identifying the right timing for the issuance and advising on technical details such as maturity and format.

Marc added: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been recognised by the market as Best GBP Bookrunner/Dealer. Advising our customers on their issuances in the Sterling market is a team effort, and we’re very proud that our One Bank approach, with multiple specialist teams working closely together to ensure the best outcome for our customers, is bearing fruits.”

Best ESG SSA Bookrunner/Dealer

This award recognises the work of our specialist Climate and ESG Capital Markets’ team, supporting our SSA customers, including local governments, across the full spectrum of sustainable financing. In 2023, we have assisted numerous SSAs across a wide range of ESG-related transactions such as Unédic’s €1 billion Social Bond, Germany’s green €5.25 billion twin to its current 10-year conventional bond, and the World Bank’s €2 billion Sustainable Development Bond

Caroline Haas, Head of Climate and ESG Capital Markets at NatWest highlighted that “it’s such an honour to have been recognised by CMDportal and market participants for our ongoing focus on GSS issuance. At NatWest, we are proud to support our SSA customers with innovative green, social and sustainability bond transactions to create a more equal society while ensuring a just transition to net zero and environmentally sound planet, in line with our purpose of helping people, families and businesses to thrive.”
