The panel discussion

There was also a two-way panel discussion that focused on the various ways NatWest supports and partners with startups to put them in an ideal environment to succeed – which featured Darren Pirie (Head of NatWest Accelerator), Glyn Baker (Head of Engagement and Partnerships), Veronica Humble (CIO of Cushon) and Will Turner (Co-founder of GoJoe).

Darren Pirie, Head of NatWest Accelerator, noted: “Our programme has now been running for almost ten years, helping entrepreneurs to accelerate their businesses to the next level. It’s evolved over time, and we’ve adapted to every challenge faced along the way – such as the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020, and setting up our Digital Hub. We have seen the power of AI tools and capability increasing across all sectors, with a growing trend towards AI start-ups emerging in recent years, and hope to see even more in our next cohort!

NatWest Group has the number one spot for market share of start-ups, truly cementing our place as the biggest bank for business banking. The Accelerator is a proof point we’re incredibly proud of, demonstrating our commitment to UK business growth. This complements a special new milestone, where we’re tripling the number of entries onto the Accelerator Programme – with 2,500 places available for our next cohort.”

Entrepreneur Accelerator

If you are an entrepreneur or start-up in need of business expertise and banking support to scale (whether you’re harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence or pioneering sodas free from artificial sweeteners like one of our alumni) applications are currently open.
