ISO 20022 is being introduced to Bankline in stages and by payment type. The next change is to CHAPS payments, and it’s planned for the first quarter of 2025. As part of this, you’ll see some new payment information fields appear when you’re making a CHAPS payment. For most CHAPS payments these will be optional, but for certain payments they’ll become mandatory. For example, from May 2025 certain property transactions will need a purpose code. We’ll let you know when these changes are live in Bankline.
Importing CHAPs payments into Bankline using ISO 20022 XML Pain001.001.09
- To help you prepare for any changes you may need to make to your import files with your software provider, (due to the updates in the first quarter of 2025) we’ve created an updated XML Pain.001.001.09 guide. Please use this to understand the upcoming changes and note:
- This version is not yet live, and if you include the enhanced data (such as purpose codes) the file will reject until the changes to CHAPS have been introduced.
If you’re looking to use XML for the first time, we suggest you build to this version, rather than the March 2024 version.
In-line with the ISO 20022 changes to CHAPS listed above, we’ll also be extending our CSV format so you can include the industry mandated CHAPS data. We’ll let you know when this is available with guidance on how to use it. Please read the FAQs on existing Bankline import payment formats below for more information.
