Remote Cheque Deposit

You need to buy either a Digital Check TS240, with a choice of three versions that are all appropriate for RCD, or CX30. You should also consider any maintenance you might need.

This will depend on your business needs, you’ll need multiple scanners if you plan to remit cheques from multiple sites. You may want to consider purchasing a maintenance plan from the relevant scanner provider or an additional backup scanner that can be used for contingency purposes.

Digitalcheck.com has a list of the scanners and suppliers, including: Tall Group; Aperta; Unisys, and Business Systems Limited.

There’s no charge for having RCD but you’ll be charged your agreed “Cheques Paid in Centrally” tariff for each cheque you deposit. The “Cheques Paid in Centrally” tariff can be found in your agreed Tariff Sheet in the Specialist Services section.

Yes, section three of the User Guide tells you how to prepare your deposit for scanning.

You can deposit the following items in sterling:

• Cheques.
• Traveller’s cheques.
• Banker’s drafts.
• Postal orders.

You can’t deposit the following items:

• Cheques drawn in foreign currency or payable abroad.
• Cheques not payable to your organisation.

You can deposit cheques 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We’ll let you know if RCD will be unavailable because of maintenance.

There’s no limit to the number of deposits you can make per day. The maximum cheques per deposit is 149.

You won’t be able to commit the deposit unless the total value of the cheques equals the value on the credit slip.

When you commit a deposit, a deposit receipt will pop up on screen. We’ll contact you if there are any issues with cheque settlement.

Once you commit a deposit to us, we perform some extra validations. If any item can’t be processed, we’ll contact you.

We operate a clearing cut-off at 6pm on each bank working day. Weekends and bank holidays aren’t bank working days. Deposits submitted before a bank working day will be credited to your account by 11.59pm on the next bank working day.

We recommend you keep cheques and credit slips for a minimum of 10 days after deposit. After this, they can be disposed of securely.

Your Bankline administrator can set up access privileges – see section 2.3 of the User Guide.

You can pay cheques into your own account(s) or any account(s) where we’ve got a valid third-party Bankline mandate ID.

RCD has different reporting functions that let you review and extract data for 99 days from when you make a deposit.

Your Bankline administrator controls user privileges. If a user has only been given a Remote Cheque Deposit privilege then they won’t have access to other functions in Bankline, such as account balances.

Your access privilege determines what reports you can view and extract. Your Bankline administrator can amend access privileges – see section 2.3 of the User Guide.

Please wait for at least 48 hours for the cheque to clear, post the deposit, before asking your Bankline administrator to contact your Local Service Team.
