Create a Customer Profile

You must be 18+ and a UK resident to create a Customer Profile.

No bank account? No problem

Customer Profiles are a way for us to check your identity and allow you to be added to a bank account.

You only need to set up a Customer Profile if you don't currently have a bank account, savings product, loan, credit card or mortgage with us.

Adding yourself to a joint account?

You’ll need a Customer Profile if you are a new customer that wants to get added to a bank account.

Once your Customer Profile has been created, the person with the bank account will be able to find you in Online Banking and add you.

How to create a Customer Profile

Getting a Customer Profile is easy, just follow the steps below:
  1. Check your eligibility
    Customer Profiles are for UK residents aged 18+ who don’t currently bank with NatWest. 
  2. Dig out what you'll need
    We’ll need to check your identity, we’ll do this by matching your photo ID to a selfie of you. You’ll need a device with a camera to upload these. We might also ask for other information like proof of address. If you don’t have your ID to hand, you can finish this step later.
  3. Create your Customer Profile 
    Once you've got everything you'll need to hand, you can get started.

Get ready to start

Before you create your Customer Profile, we need to check you're happy with a few things. 

First things first. You can create a profile if you:

  • Are aged 18 or over and a UK resident.
  • Don't have a bank account, savings product, loan, credit card or mortgage with NatWest.

Take some time to look at the following important info, as it will apply to you if you choose to add a bank account to your Customer Profile. 

We recommend that you save or print a copy for reference.

How your information might be used

It's important for you to understand how we use and share your information. Please read this short summary before you continue with your application.

As part of the checks that we will complete to verify your identity, we’ll take an image of your face so that it can be compared with your photo ID and this biometric data is captured.

Are you being added to a bank account?

Ok. Let’s get started

We’ll ask you a few questions to get your profile set up. Then we’ll pass you to our partner Mitek to check your ID.  

You’ll need:

  • A Photo ID

This can be a passport, driving licence (full or provisional), or an ID card from an EU or EEA country.

  • A liveness check

We’ll ask you to take a short video to compare you to your Photo ID.

You don’t need a Customer Profile

You don't need to create a Customer Profile if you're adding someone to one of your existing bank accounts. 

If the person you're adding doesn't have an account with us, they may need to set up a Customer Profile before you can search for them. You can find more info on our joint account page.
