What am I able to do as Power of Attorney on an account?
The duties the Attorney can perform on behalf of the Donor will depend on whether there are any restrictions contained in the Power of Attorney (POA) document. Additionally, if there are multiple Attorneys that have been appointed to act jointly, then there will be restrictions on how you can manage the account i.e. no access to Online Banking/mobile/telephone banking.
As an example, an Attorney may be able to:
- Access balance and statements
- Make payments
- Set up and access Online Banking/mobile/telephone banking
- Get a Debit/ATM card or chequebook for the account(s)
Find out more about what a POA can do on our Caring for someone vulnerable page(opens in a new window).
If you have already been made POA, you will need to register the Power of Attorney with us.
