How do I return an item that I bought using Apple Pay in a store?
If you need to return an item that you have bought in a store, we recommend that you take the card with you that you used when you made the purchase as some merchants may need to see this as part of the refund process. They will ask you to enter the card PIN into the shops' card-reader.
The merchant may be able to use the Device Account Number (your device card number) to find your purchase and process the return, as they would with a traditional credit card or debit card payment.
To see the last 4 or 5 digits of the Device Account Number for your iPhone or iPad:
- Go to Wallet
- Tap the card and then tap the 'information' icon
Apple Pay activity is also included on your credit card statements, and on your bank account statements for your debit card transactions.
On the device that you used to make the original payment, select the card that you want to be refunded.
On your iPhone, hold your iPhone near the contactless reader and authorise the return with Touch ID or your passcode.
Depending on the return and refund policies of the store you bought the item from, it may take up to several days for the return transaction to appear on your credit card statement, or on your bank account statement.
You can see your recent Apple Pay transactions in Wallet and in 'Statements' on your Mobile app, and in your Online Banking service.
