What do I do if I've blocked my debit card PIN at a point of sale retailer?
If you have entered your PIN incorrectly three times in a row at a point of sale retailer, you will not be able to make any further point of sale retailer payments.
If you know your PIN
- Your card will still work at any cash machine, and for purchases made over the telephone and online
- You can unblock your PIN at any NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (In Scotland) or Ulster Bank cash machine:
- Insert your card and enter the correct PIN
- Select 'Other Services', then 'Unblock PIN' and you will be able to use your card and PIN immediately
- If you are unable to visit a NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (In Scotland) or Ulster Bank cash machine to unblock your PIN, you will need to request a replacement card
- If you are on holiday outside the UK, you can either reset you PIN once back in the UK or contact the bank to send a replacement card card to your address recorded on file
If you do not know your PIN
- You can contact the bank via our Support Centre(opens in a new window), see your PIN in your mobile app or order a PIN reminder via Online Banking.
- Upon receipt of the PIN reminder, you can unblock your PIN at any NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (In Scotland) or Ulster Bank cash machine:
- Insert your card and enter the correct PIN
- Select 'Other Services', then 'Unblock PIN' and you will be able to use your card and PIN immediately
- If you are unable to visit a NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (In Scotland) or Ulster Bank cash machine to unblock your PIN, you will need to request a replacement card
