Once we receive your payment instructions, we'll need to make sure the request is coming from you. To do this, we'll send you an email and/or text to verify your ID using our security partner, Mitek.

How do I use Mitek?

How do I use Mitek?

Mitek is the simplest and quickest way to get verified with no additional cost.

To use Mitek, please click on the link you have received by email and/or text to start the process. If you haven’t already had your link please email us at returnfunds@natwest.com or call us on 0800 046 1631.

Mitek will guide you through the process of scanning documents to verify your identification and address, alongside asking you to take a “selfie” to confirm it is you.

Please note: Where more than one signature is required (e.g., joint account, entity etc.), each signatory will individually need to complete the verification process.

If you would prefer to not use our digital verification service, we can provide you with instructions on how to provide certified copies of your identification.

Who can certify my document?

Who can certify my document?

Your documents will need to be certified by a professional as part of the verification process. The people listed below can certify your documents:

  • a branch colleague in any NatWest/RBS/Ulster Bank NI branch
  • a lawyer, solicitor or notary public who is a member of a recognised professional body
  • a chartered accountant who is a member of a recognised professional body

 

Please remember your certifier’s contact details should be available on the Internet.

 

What does the certifier need to do?

  • Photocopies must be certified on each page with the wording: 'Certified as a true copy of the original as seen by me' (or a statement with the same intended meaning).
  • Photocopies must be signed and dated by the certifier.
  • The certifier should record their full name, signature, their position, the name of their firm, their location, their contact details, and the date on the photocopies.
  • For copies of photo ID, please ensure they are certified with the wording: 'true likeness’.
  • If your original documentation is not in English, a certified translation will also need to be provided.
